GWS PADI seal Team
ages 8-10 years old
About the Course
The PADI Seal Team is for young scuba divers who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool by completing exciting AquaMissions. Here at GWS, we have been running SealTeam for a few years now, with returning young divers who are always asking their parents “Is it time to go diving yet?!” We take a lot of care to make our Seal Team fun, engaging, and safe for our young kiddos.
Beyond learning basic scuba skills, there are specialty AquaMissions, such as wreck diving, navigation, buoyancy, environmental awareness and more. . . In fact, we often say how our young SealTeam divers are the best divers we have at the shop! Their passion and attention to detail in learning their underwater skills is what makes SealTeam so much fun!
PADI Seal Team includes doing some cool stuff in the pool, meeting friends and sharing in the adventure of the underwater world.
To join the PADI Seal Team, a child must be 8 years of age or older. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but kids should be comfortable in the water. Parental approval is required.
Here at GWS, where many of our staff are parents themselves,
we know there is nothing more important to you then your child
This is why we take extra care developing our kids programming and ensuring that our safety standards not just meet, but far exceed the guidelines set out by Padi

peak performance buoyancy
SealTeam Members are taught how to hover using their gear and with their lungs. Seals will have an obstacle course of Hula-hoops (and other obstacles!) to go through without touching or getting tangled up in. We explore the academic concepts of buoyancy and water displacement!
Thanks to our friends at the Spray Lakes Centre, we are able to go to the pool after hours where the lifeguards will turn out all the lights so the Seal team can learn what it is like to night dive! They will learn how to communicate with torches (lights) instead of hand signals. This dive remains a fan favourite, year after year for both staff and Seals alike!
night diving
Generation Wave Scuba has a 30’ boat made out of PVC pipe that our friends at the Spray Lakes Pool lets us sink!!! The Seal Team learns how to draw the wreck with underwater slates with them learning to explain how to get through the wreck. The participants are also taught how to do line work so when they enter the wreck they can follow the line to get back out of the boat. The boat is not enclosed and is completely open for safety, but we have such a fun time decorating it and we even host a treasure hunt with prizes for our Seals!
